Orange Scones

I use a serious shortcut for these…Pancake Mix! This allows me to make them with no eggs and it doesn’t change a thing about all that you hope and dream a scone would be. These take less than 30 minutes to make and you probably have all the ingredients you need to make them today!

These beauties are served on the regular at my house!

Orange Scones

Course: Breakfast, Sweets
Author: The Mill Town Kitchen

Ingredients

  • 2 1/3 cup bisquick
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • zest of 1-2 oranges

Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • zest and juice of 1-2 oranges

Notes

Preheat your oven to 425 and line your baking sheet with parchment
  • in a large bowl, combine bisquick, sugar and orange zest
  • add the milk and melted butter, stir to combine
  • using your hands, gently free form 6 like sized scones – I like to make them ovals

Bake at 425 for 10-12 minutes or until they are light golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
For the glaze:
Combine all of the ingredients together into a bowl and whisk until fully combined.  You’re looking for a smooth but thick glaze.  If you find that it’s to thin, add a little more powdered sugar
Once the scones are done baking, remove them from the hot pan and onto a cooling rack.  When they are cool, spoon your glaze all over the top, letting it drip down the sides of the scone.  Yum!  Let the glaze set and harden (or if you just can’t wait, you can enjoy them freshly glazed).
